1Hyaluronic Acid (sodium hyaluronate, hyaluronan, HA) is a physiological substance discovered by Karl Meyer and John Palmer in 1934, scientists at Columbia University, New York. They found it naturally occurring in the body of all mammals and is identical in all species and tissues.
Hyaluronic Acid is a mucopolusaccharide carbohydrate, an indispensable component of intact, healthy gums and oral mucosal tissue, responsible for fluid balance, stability and elasticity. It provides optimum moisturization of the oral cavity, which can alleviate problems of dry mouth.2 It is known to have anti-infective and anti-inflammatory properties, making it an ideal aid for brisker healing of mouth ulcers and oral tissue traumas. 3Its presence significantly promotes migration of fibrocytes to wounds, which are necessary for faster healing as they facilitate tissue regeneration.2(1 Oksala O. et al., J.
